The Monitor has made it clear: The Flash must die on December 10, 2019. I mean, the headline even said it, right?
But, a Super-fan calling himself “@barryxxtheflash” created some meme art that pointed out something interesting that we hadn’t really thought about before: The Monitor didn’t necessarily say Barry Allen must die in the upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover. He said The Flash must die.
Obviously, there’s been no talk at all about the possibility of Grant Gustin leaving The Flash after Crisis on Infinite Earths, so we assume that in some way, some how, he will be back… though Keiynan Lonsdale’s possible return as Wally in the second half of Season 6 would seem pretty appropriate to follow a Flash death, just like the comic books where Barry sacrificed himself and Wally took over the role.
It might be anticlimactic if the Flash dying would be Jay, though it would be pretty amazing if it had been John Wesley Shipp’s Barry Allen Flash from the 1990 Flash series… but, it seems he may have been blinked away in last year’s Elseworlds crossover, so we’re not sure about that one. Maybe yet another Flash will be introduced in the crossover that we don’t know about? I can see the fake “Ezra Miller To Appear In Crisis On Infinite Earths” headlines at We Got This Covered already…
It would be the ultimate Easter egg if the Flash that was co-developed for the comics by Marv Wolfman after Crisis but never actually introduced, Mackenzie Ryan, was a surprise death…. or, ya know, Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen was The Flash just a year ago. Hmm. Any thoughts from readers? Leave them below.
In any event, check out the meme below with our thanks to our friends at the Comic Tube Facebook page for sharing it and bringing this to our attention.
